Local roots & community Engagement
Supporting local employment and the economic players in our regions, promoting inclusion, and showcasing our products and expertise: these are all priorities that reflect our commitment to being a dedicated and valuable partner in the communities where our factories are located.
Charitable donations
We support a number of local and national charities through donations of desserts and financial contributions. In 2025, our Taunton shop supported BBC Children in Need by donating 20% of the day's takings to the charity and organising a fundraising activity. For a small donation, participants were invited to guess how many sprinkles were in a jar for the chance to win a prize. All proceeds from the activity were also donated to the charity. Through initiatives such as these, we are proud to support important causes within our local communities and across the UK.
Community champions
We have dedicated Community Champions based at our Taunton, Corby and Maidenhead sites who build relationships with local charities and community organisations, while regularly supporting our nominated charities through fundraising and volunteering activities. To name just a few, Taunton supports St Margaret's Hospice Care, Corby supports Kettering General Hospital, and Maidenhead supports Thames Hospice. Our Community Champions often support fundraising events by providing cake stalls stocked with our delicious desserts, with all proceeds donated to charity. These events help to increase engagement with charitable initiatives and encourage local community involvement. Our teams have even been known to hold cake sales outside our sites, giving passers-by the opportunity to enjoy some cake while supporting a worthy cause. Through the enthusiasm and dedication of our Community Champions, we are able to make a positive contribution to the communities in which we operate and support causes that make a real difference to people's lives.
Responsible Purchasing
Responsible sourcing is something we take very seriously. By mapping risks within our supply chain, recognising social and environmental challenges, and implementing a Responsible Purchasing Charter, our teams actively promote responsible purchasing practices every day. For many years, the palm oil used in our raw materials has been sourced from deforestation-free supply chains through segregated RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certification.
In 2026, we made further improvements to the sustainability of our ingredients by reviewing our cocoa and chocolate supply chains. Through close collaboration with our suppliers, we have worked hard to ensure these products are now sourced from deforestation-free and sustainably managed supply chains. We have also focused on addressing embedded soya within our product portfolio, particularly soya lecithin used in chocolate ingredients. We are now sourcing this from sustainable, deforestation-free supply chains. Animal welfare is another area that we are passionate about. As a result, from 2026 we source only free-range eggs for use in our products.
Another positive change introduced in 2026 was the transition to wheat flour produced from wheat grown using regenerative agricultural practices. These farming methods help to support soil health, biodiversity and the long-term sustainability of agricultural systems. As a result, when you enjoy one of our products, you can be confident that it is not only delicious but that many of its key ingredients have been sourced through more sustainable and responsible supply chains.
